Dr. So is a native of Los Angeles, California, where he was born and raised. He completed his undergraduate study in Biophysics at the prestigious Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. After spending two years teaching inner city high school, he attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine, earning his medical degree in 2007. He completed his internship and residency at The Ohio State University in 2010, where he pursued his interests in medical education and was awarded Resident Teacher of the Year during his final year of study. Dr. So served as a hospitalist physician at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Utah in 2014 and subsequently began his practice with Texarkana Gastroenterology Consultants.
Dr. So has authored multiple publications in medical journals as well as presented his research and case reports at national conferences. He has been a manuscript editor for the American College of Gastroenterology Case Reports Journal. He prides himself in the thorough diagnosis and expert treatment of all gastrointestinal and hepatological conditions. His areas of professional interests include liver disease, advanced therapeutic endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, functional GI disorders, and bariatric endoscopy.
Dr. So and his wife, Jennie, are the proud parents of two children, a daughter Ellie and son, Brenton. He came to practice in Texarkana, far from his native home state, in order to practice medicine in a more “small town” setting where he is able to give more individual attention to his patients, develop a meaningful relationship with them, and approach healing in a compassionate and holistic manner. His personal interests include his endeavor to improve his golf game, spending time with friends and family, being involved in serving his church, and cheering Ohio State’s Buckeye football.

Johnathan was born and raised in Texas, moving to Texarkana as child when his father Dr. David Steele, DDS who after graduating dental school, opened his dental practice here over 30 years ago. Dr. David Steele continues to practice dentistry locally alongside Johnathan’s brother Dr. Brian Steele, DDS.; After graduating from Abilene Christian University, Johnathan practiced as a licensed professional counselor in a psychiatric hospital prior to his medical training at Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He was the first PA in the nation to qualify for the National Health Service Corp. in Psychiatry. Johnathan is also the regional site coordinator for the University of Arkansas PA Program and is a past Director at Large for the Arkansas PA Association. After completing his PA training, he returned to Texarkana, and has worked in a variety of healthcare fields prior to Gastroenterology.
Johnathan enjoys doing just about anything outdoors. However, he especially enjoys spending time with his family, including his wife Jennifer of almost 20 years, and their three children Shelby, Nathan, and Lauren. The girls are active in theatre and dance, while Nathan plays baseball. Johnathan is also active within his church and community.

Dr. Cozart is a native of Nacogdoches, Texas, attending Stephen F. Austin State University where he was salutatorian of his graduating class and served as president of Alpha Chi, the university honor society. During his medical residency at The University of Iowa, Dr. Cozart was chosen as the top resident of his class, and was given the Resident Award for Excellence. Dr. Cozart completed a Gastroenterology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, and then went on to complete an Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy Fellowship at the University of Toronto, where Dr. Cozart received extensive training in the management of biliary and pancreatic diseases, as well as in non-surgical techniques for removal of large colonic polyps.
Dr. Cozart has a special interest in non-surgical management of hemorrhoids. Infrared Coagulation (IRC) of hemorrhoids is a non-surgical approach to hemorrhoids that alleviates hemorrhoidal bleeding without the need for surgery.
Dr. Cozart introduced Infrared Coagulation (IRC) of hemorrhoids to Texarkana in 2009 and has since performed over 400 procedures. He and his partners are the only physicians in Texarkana to offer IRC.
Dr. Cozart has numerous publications in peer-reviewed medical journals, including an essay that explores the physician’s response to a patient’s death. This piece was published in The Journal of the American Medical Association and was later featured in the book, A Piece of My Mind, which contains a collection of these essays.
Dr. Cozart and his wife, Terrie, are members of the First Baptist Church in Texarkana. They enjoy spending free time in the country with their dogs, horses, donkeys, ducks, and geese. They also love going to the lake with friends and family.

Dr. Stephen Steele is a native of Texarkana, Texas, where he graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. He completed his undergraduate study in Biology at Texas A&M University in 2006. He attended The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he earned his medical degree in 2011, completed his internship in 2012, and his residency in 2014. He completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at Methodist Dallas Medical Center in 2017, where he had the opportunity to train with national experts in pancreatitis, liver disease, and advanced endoscopy. His research and work in acute pancreatitis played a role in the hospital becoming the first in the nation to be accredited for the management of acute pancreatitis.
Dr. Steele has authored several publications in medical journals as well as presented his research at national conferences. His areas of professional interests include pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, and advanced endoscopy. He seeks to treat each person holistically by providing high-quality, comprehensive, and compassionate care.
Dr. Steele returned home to practice in Texarkana to provide knowledgeable and compassionate care to his hometown community. He and his wife, Laura, are the proud parents of three boys. His personal interests include spending time with his wife and children, service at his church, medical missions, spending time outdoors, photography, and cheering for Aggie football.

Ms. Keahey’s experience in healthcare is diverse and knowledgeable. Starting as a respiratory therapist, she learned quickly that patient care is important. She later began her trek to a nurse practitioner as she first received her license as a registered nurse followed by a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. After several different positions in healthcare, she settled into a role as an emergency department nurse and began her training to become a nurse practitioner. Robyn’s love for people motivates her to provide compassionate care to her patients and families.
Robyn is a native of Texarkana, living and working in various healthcare fields during her professional career. She enjoys spending time with her husband, children, family and friends. She supports her daughter in the Arkansas & Southwest Arkansas High School Rodeo Association, enjoys horseback riding, and coaches her daughter’s basketball team. She is active within her church and community and loves many outdoor activities.

After proudly serving in the US Air Force for 10 years, Dr. Boehmke settled in Texarkana to begin his private gastroenterology / hepatology practice with Texarkana Gastroenterology Consultants, PA. back in 2011. A native of Houston, he completed his post-graduate medical training in San Antonio through the Air Force and comes to the group from his most recent posting at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) in Anchorage, Alaska having survived that area’s cold climate for 4 years.
Dr. Boehmke has a special interest in Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, colon cancer prevention and hepatitis, and he brings with him expertise in colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, biliary ERCP, capsule endoscopy and esophageal manometry.
He believes all patients deserve compassionate and competent health care that provides patients with the ability to make educated decisions. He and his wife of over 14 years, Elaine, are proud parents of three children. He enjoys snowboarding, professional sports, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Laura Balmain is a native of this area, living most of her early years in Hooks, Texas, which is just west of Texarkana. She is a graduate of Texas A University and received her medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. After completing her internship, residency, and chief residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, she went on to complete her gastroenterology fellowship at Vanderbilt University. She practiced 5½ years in Tennessee, then moved home to raise her family, joining the practice in 2002.
She is known for her gentle approach and dedication to her patients. informed of their disease process and ongoing treatment in a fair and non-judgemental approach. His approach as a diagnostician incorporates his training and expertise from internal medicine and gastroenterology.
Laura enjoys spending time with her son and raising cattle on her ranch just west of town. She sings in the choir at her church and devotes a portion of her personal time to various ministry efforts.
